You dropped a bomb on me...baby!

So I got an idea for a new "Green Monster" off of another blog and it is AWESOME, and for those of you who are a bit afraid of the "Green" good news! It's brown, as in chocolate brown! The name of this drink is "Cherry Bomb" and I am hooked! I changed it a bit from the blog I found it on. This all goes into the blender:

1 cup water
1 frozen banana
1 cup frozen cherries
1 scoop chocolate protein powder
1 scoop chia seeds (optional)
1 tablespoon cocoa powder
1 scoop of chocolate Amazing Grass
a splash of vanilla

And here you have it, Cherry Bomb!

So inside the cup is what the UPS man brought me, My new glass Dharma Straws! I like them because they are glass not plastic so they won't leach plastic chemicals into my drinks, and because they are eco friendly. I LOVE drinking through straws, they make me do a better job of getting my water in!

Lunch was a big gianormous salad that I made!

Dinner was a veggie burger.

Then, we were off to spend time with good friends and sip wine!!!

  1. Ok hi again. I love your blog because I don't have time to experiment right now and you're giving me all the ideas I need. This is SO where my mind wants to explore right now but not good at finding time. I called you tonight by the way and tried to lv a msg but it cut me off. I have been calling the wrong number I found out from Kelly tonight. Anyway, for now, wanted to tell you make sure you use GROUND chia seeds; otherwise, not as many of their nutrients will reach you since they will pass thru your system undigested except for what your teeth broke down. (Heard that from the blood lady!) Tell me, can I buy chia seeds at plain ol Kroger? And next question, how are you finding out where all the farmers markets are going to be?? Your personality is SO coming thru in this blog and I love and miss u.

  3. Jonna- I had heard that about flaxseeds, but not chia seeds. I'll have to read up on that. On the package it actually said you can mix them in water and drink them. I don't do that but I do blend them in my smoothies. I buy my chia seeds at The Vitamin Shoppe but you can also get them on vitacost.com I'm glad you like the blog, that encourages me to keep going! Jonna, would you like to see more smoothie ideas or juice ideas?

  4. Here is what I found about whether or not to grind the chia seeds.

I also wondered if we might need to grind chia seeds, since flax seeds require grinding. Does grinding chia make it more bioavailable?

“Not really,” Dr. Coates replied. With flax you have to grind it, because it has a hard seed coat. Chia doesn’t, so you don’t need to grind it.
